Star Chaser has arrived Wednesday afternoon with a very happy crew in Las Palmas.
They set off over a week ago from Gibraltar and had an exciting sail down to Lanzarote, where they spent a couple of days exploring this volcanic island with its impressive scenery. Lots of good food, snorkelling, swimming, sight seeing in some amazing volcanic structures and natural grottos kept everybody busy and made for an entertaining and relaxing stopover.
A last short hop around Fuertaventura with some exhilarating asymmetrical spinnaker sailing (testing the screamer to much satisfaction of the skipper Boogie), saw them sail into Gran Canaria with mixed feelings. A sense of achievement to have finished a 750nm offshore passage but also a touch of sadness as this was the last stop.
Some delicious Spanish tapas, some sightseeing and then all crew is off again, leaving Boogie and Marlies on Star Chaser to get her ready for the arrival of the first ARC crew on Tuesday 17 November.
The start of the ARC 2009, Star Chaser’s 3rd, is on Sunday 22nd November. You can follow their progress and adventures on the blog.
